Academically: to gain a wide range of knowledge, have full comprehension of age-appropriate concepts, to reach classroom goals, and to be well-prepared for upcoming academic challenges.
Mentally: to expand their interests, think independently, and develop problem solving skills.
Physically: to establish personal cleanliness habits, to improve both gross and fine motor skills, and to follow and practice simple rules of safety.
Emotionally: to learn that it is ‘ok’ and normal to feel a wide range of emotions, to include happy, sad, angry, frustrated, excited, etc, and to work on regulating all emotions and expressing those emotions in appropriate ways.
Socially: to grow in ability to work and play with others, to develop an attitude of kindness and cooperation toward others, to receive guidance in building healthy and appropriate school relationships with peers and adults, to receive guidance on setting healthy boundaries with peers, and to grow in the ability to accept individual responsibility for choices made amongst peers.
